Coche Dury Description
From a combined holding of 0.33ha (0.815 acres) equally divided between two 1er crus: Clos des Chenes and Taillepides. Vines were planted in 1962 and 1987.
Wine Advocate: 93 Points
The 2021 Volnay 1er Cru opens in the glass with aromas of red berries and plums mingled with peonies, orange zest and spices. Medium to full-bodied, supple and satiny, it's pure and lively, with a more tightly wound, incisive profile than Coche's supremely demonstrative lower-appellation reds this year.
Burghound: 92 Points
A perfumed, elegant and airy nose is comprised by plenty of spice, floral and discreet earth nuances on the essence of pure red berry fruit. The notably finer, and highly seductive, middleweight plus flavors possess both excellent delineation and an abundance of minerality that adds a sense of lift to the highly energetic, balanced and striking long finale. This is excellent and a wine that should easily age 10 to 15 years.
Vinous: 89 Points
The 2021 Volnay ler Cru, the usual 50/50 blend from Taillepieds and Clos des Chênes, has an uncomplicated but pure bouquet with redcurrant, rooibos and light tomato vine scents. It just needs a little more precision. The palate is lighter than the previous vintage, as you would expect, but well-balanced and supple, with touches of white pepper towards the slightly rustic finish.
