Zeitgeist Cabernet we managed to pry out of Mark and Jen was the 2011. This is the 180 degree opposite of that lean, pure, nervy Cab! The vintage is a huge part of that story, but the vineyards matter as well. Five very special sites come together here to provide 96% Cabernet Sauvignon and 4% Cabernet Franc that’s full of Napa richness and character. Lewelling Ranch in St. Helena, Farella in Coombsville, Rafael in Oak Knoll, Sleeping Lady in Yountville and the magnificent Oakville Station touching both To Kalon and Martha's Vineyards.
On first impression, this is a big, in your face, super lush, rich and fruit-filled Napa Cab with a just right spice from new French oak. Well, on second and third impressions, too. But as you work your way through glass #1 and move on to #2 and a bit of air loosens things up, you’ll realize that there’s impeccable balance and even freshness here as well.
