Rocca di Frassinello Description
Inaugurated in the heart of the Tuscan Maremma, Rocca di Frassinello winery was born as a joint venture between Castellare di Castellina and Domaines Barons de Rothschild-Château Lafite, an unmistakable name in the greatest wines of France and of the world. A project in the center of Maremma, between Bolgheri and Montalcino, that benefits from the dually celebrated oenological experience of both partners. In this area the vine has historically flourished for about 3 thousand years since the time of the Etruscans, who cultivated it by utilizing surrounding trees as a support for the vines.
The first label from Rocca di Frassinello, is the highest expression of this Italian-French project. A wine that succeeds in combining strength, intensity and elegance, with soft tannins to give it a roundness in the mouth. It achieved the highest critical acclaim right from the first harvest, the 2004 vintage. A great competition wine according to Christian Le Sommer, winemaker at Les Domaines Baron de Rothschild-Lafite, who created it together with Alessandro Cellai.
Tasting Note: An intense ruby red in color with hints of garnet. A wine that succeeds in combining strength, intensity and elegance, with soft tannins to give it a roundness in the mouth. Fruity to the nose with a pleasant spiciness. The taste in the mouth is deep, but lively and with good balance.
Wine Pairing: Rocca di Frassinello is perfect with complex and structured main courses and slow cooked, braised meats.

The 2022 Rocca di Frassinello is terrific. Broad and vibrant in the glass, the 2022 offers a striking interplay of dense, dark-toned fruit and bright acids to pull it all together. Plum, black cherry, incense, licorice and lavender are all beautifully delineated. This is such a classy and complete wine.
