Raimbault et Fils Description
Produced by Domaine du Pr Semel, which is owned and run by the Raimbault family, their eponymous Sancerre (with tertiary label) is fermented from grapes planted to both Terre Blanche and Cailottes soil. The family farms 20 hectares of vines, near Sury-en-Vaux, across 60 different parcels, three quarters of which are Sauvignon Blanc and one quarter Pinot Noir. Soils are primarily the classic ‘terres blanches’ clay-chalk, a heavier soil which gives the wines a ripe fruit character, and some 'caillottes', a form of limestone. Julien manages the vineyards while his brother Clement, who has done stints at Domaine Trapet in Burgundy as well as Te Mata in New Zealand, makes the wine. The farming is “lutte raisone.”
From the rolling hills and limestone-rich soils of the Loire Valley, Raimbault et Fils Sancerre is a shining example of the purity and elegance that define this iconic appellation.
Tasting Note: Captivates the senses with vibrant aromas of citrus blossom, zesty grapefruit, and hints of flinty minerality. On the palate, it offers crisp, precise acidity balanced by a subtle creaminess, revealing layers of white peach, green apple, and delicate herbaceous notes.
Wine Pairing: Refined yet approachable, Raimbault et Fils Sancerre is a versatile companion for both everyday meals and celebratory occasions, perfectly expressing the character of its terroir.
