“I'm not sure what I can write that I haven't written before. These are easily among the greatest dry Rieslings made in Germany from one of its most elite terroirs. In one way, it's just that simple. It's absurd to me to me how many serious, serious, German wine dorks I talk to who, when asked who they think is making the best dry Rieslings in Germany, say, without hesitation, "Emrich-Schönleber." Just as absurd is the number of tastings I've done - blind and not blind - where a Schönleber GG just wipes the table with everything else. And most of the people at the table, who know German wine, are not in the least bit surprised. All this is curious because, as you know, while the wines have a good market in the U.S., they do not fly off the shelf in the way that, for example, Keller does. They require some attention, some love, some work. But I guess that's what we're here for? As with the wines themselves, Schönleber's market presence is subtle, restrained, austere. We are the ones who must yell a bit. Please join us in digging deep for one of the greats. This level of quiet, meditative, perfection, should be championed - especially in a world as loud and distracted as ours is.”

In the 2024 vintage, the Auslesen are *super* rare and just heartbreaking. I'm not sure what else to say; sheened, ultra-slick juicy fruit with a saline mineral core and just profound thrust and lift.

The 2024 Riesling Monzinger Halenberg Auslese was made with botrytized fruit. A flicker of passion fruit on the nose turns this into a full-blown force on the palate, bringing all the immense sweetness and exquisite tartness of the fruit into a heightened expression. The 2024 is so fine, bright and clear. The botrytis here served to concentrate the fruit, but there is not a hint of it in flavor. Purity, poise and absolute precision make this exquisite.
