Domaine Arlaud Pere et Fils Description

Domaine Arlaud Père et Fils is a reference point for natural Burgundy wines. The singular experience each organically raised cuvée offers is a revelation for even the most experienced palates. The family began to cultivate their vineyards organically in 2004. In 2009, they were inspired to push further, establishing biodynamic viticultural practices across all their holdings. As of the 2014 vintage, the estate will hold both organic and biodynamic certification, the very first estate to do so in Morey-Saint-Denis.

‘Roncevie’ is surrounded by villages-level vines of GevreyChambertin, and shares essentially identical exposition and soils (a combination of clay, limestone and marne). The estate founder, Joseph Arlaud (winemaker Cyprien Arlaud’s grandfather), planted Pinot Noir vines here in 1964 and 1965. The 12-acre plot was at the time rated Gevrey villages; it was reclassified as Bourgogne Rouge a year later.

Tasting Note: Aromas of blueberries, raspberries and irises. Medium-bodied and juicy, with a hint of baking spices on the finish.

Wine Pairing: Autumn flavors, such as pork roast with chestnuts, wild mushrooms

Burghound: 86-89 Points

A wonderfully fresh and ripe nose combines notes of red currant, plum and a whisper of earth. The sleek, delicious and vibrant middleweight flavors terminate in an inviting and refreshing if lightly rustic finish. This is very good for its level plus it offers short to mid-term aging potential.

Vinous: 85-87 Points

The 2022 Bourgogne Roncevie has commendable fruit concentration on the nose, with black cherries and bilberry fruit. The palate is well-balanced, and the 10% new oak neatly integrated. It is quite sweet, with touches of blackcurrant pastilles towards the finish. Fine.
