Baramban Alto Moncayo Description
Deep-ruby color wine with aromas of violets, currant and blackberries. Well-balanced fruit,
floral and spice notes with hints of nuanced oak providing complexity. A long and pleasing
persistent finish with great aging potential.
Tempranillo: 25 to 35 years old vines located at an elevation of 550 meters above sea level. Soil
composition is mainly red clay with two variations depending on the location; one area contains
iron providing deep color to the wines and the other area is calcareous providing acidity and
freshness.
Garnacha: Vineyards between 15 – 25 years old at an elevation of 550 meters, cultivated and
enhanced by the Cierzo Wind on the swept slopes of the Moncayo Mountain. Traditional bush
planted formation in very dry farmed land. Soils are mainly ferrous clay and slates, with high
stony quartz and sandstones.
Wine Spectator: 91 Points
Rich and smoky, with toast, grilled herb and espresso notes enmeshed with a rich core of chopped black raspberry and warm cherry fruit. Well-balanced and fresh, this is expressive but not too weighty on the palate, with a stony mineral push through the fluid finish. Garnacha and Tempranillo. Drink now through 2034. 2,200 cases made, 1,100 cases imported.
