A Rafanelli Description
An outstanding vintage for a true California classic. This Zinfandel is exceptionally balanced with intricate layers unfolding. A bouquet of blackberry jam and white pepper spice weaved together with hints of fresh flowers, vanilla, anise, and lightly toasted oak. On the palate, a lively, youthful brightness carries through to a well-structured finish that will continuously evolve with time.
12% Petite Sirah
The cold winter with high rainfall replenished the vineyards. With a delayed budbreak and cool summer, verasion occurred in late July. Yields were initially deceiving as berries sized up later in the season. This led to the decision to thin down the crop to ensure quality and concentration of the fruit. The first grapes were harvested on September 14th, indicating a late ripening. Despite the cool and rainy harvest season, the grapes reached full maturity with a desirable flavor profile and a desirable balance of pH and acid.
